The global population exploded after the 18th-century Industrial Revolution and over 200 years of industrial activities pushed the Earth's environment to its limits. Since the adoption of the SDGs at the UN General Assembly in 2015, the world has been making significant strides toward transforming into a sustainable society. Every industry is exploring a shift towards sustainable practices, including restructuring supply chains, to curb the adverse impact on the environment caused by the use of energy resources and the generation of waste.
Amidst this significant trend, there is a growing focus on the role of enzymes in microorganisms. The utilization of enzymes that yield substantial biochemical reactions under mild conditions and in small quantities is anticipated as a solution to achieve a sustainable society.
